Reading Pals Start-Up Kit – Brand Design

Brief:
Design a kit that displays the information needed to start a Reading Pals program.

Concept:
Reading Pals is a non-profit that helps students in Butte County who are struggling to reach their reading level. School districts in other counties were wanting a way to start their own program like this, so Reading Pals wanted to create a kit that showed how their program worked. This was a project that kept growing and evolving. The kit was a collaborative effort, I was the designer with a team of public relations students. I was in charge of the layout of the whole design and illustrations, including graphs and icons needed. I had to be able to show all of the information given in a pleasing way that did not look overwhelming and cluttered. It also had to fit in with the branding they had in place; a fun, playful brand that fits their child centered reading program. In the end, the kit contained a history of the program, different roles of administration needed, a budget plan, and a list of some supplies needed to start. I stuck with their contrasting color scheme of various blues and oranges and many illustrated graphs and icons to keep with their consistent branding.
