LILY – ACRYLIC PAINTING

Brief:
Paint a dynamic composition of pink lily flowers.

Concept:
Lilies are my favorite flower, so for this painting, I was inspired by their beauty. I started by drawing an outline of the painting onto the canvas and took an eraser to it so the lines were barely seen. A rough coat of the major shapes were put into the areas and then a second coat of paint capturing the details was added later. I used contrasting colors, red and green, to make it pop, but the red was lightened to make a pink tone. I challenged myself to only use six colors for the whole painting so I could embrace the deeper and lighter tones of each hue and blend them together to make a gradient look on the petals and background.

Materials:
Acrylic Paint
Stretch Canvas
